Primary Care
Naturopathic Doctors are licensed primary-care providers that can act as your family doctor if you so choose. ND’s are fully able to assess, diagnose and treat most medical conditions, as well as send out for laboratory tests and perform yearly physical exams. Some limitations to primary care exist in the case of referral to medical specialists and in ordering certain imaging. In the event that you require services such as this, your ND will simply refer you back to a medical doctor with a complete explanation of your medical history and they will be able to direct you to the appropriate specialists.
Complementary Care
Outside of the primary care system, your Naturopathic Physician would be happy to help you with whatever health concerns arise, whether it be acute illnesses or chronic conditions.
Some examples where Naturopathic Care thrives include, but are not limited to:
- You need to get over a cold or flu quickly, but you would prefer not to take drugs.
- You have a sport or work-related injury, and you wish to speed up the healing time.
- You have been diagnosed with a serious medical condition, and you would like a qualified Naturopathic Doctor to work with your health team to safely incorporate natural medicines and lifestyle changes.
- You are finding that the conventional system is not able to offer you anything that will alleviate your symptoms.
- You have been put on several drugs and you need someone to explain what they are for and if any of your supplements could be interacting with them.
Group Care
As the pubic becomes increasingly aware of the benefits of preventative medicine, more and more groups are enlisting Naturopathic Doctors to both educate and care for their staff, team members or community as a whole. The possibilities are endless but a few examples of where these services could be implemented are:
- Corporate Wellness Programs
- Educational Seminars for Sports Teams, High Schools, Running Groups, Assisted-Living Centers.
- Community Acupuncture Events
